When someone is as thick as a post, what do you do, cement them in or cut them down? Perhaps it is best to hope there is still some life in the wood, so it can be planted, sprout roots, and produce leaves and fruit, and perhaps the fruit produced will know little of the tree and do some good, despite its origins. There's nothing like trying to shift the dead weight of a luggish log to make you feel fenced in.
